In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless but planning is indispensable.

Dave is Head of Special Projects at SQS. He is focused on leveraging a wide range of project and program management tools to best support the SQS’s talented population and ensure their time, talent, and efforts are focused on the current most pressing challenges and opportunities for SQS.

Dave retired from the Army after 24 years of service. The last five were spent as the Officer in Charge for two joint task forces that support DoD, Intelligence Community, and Law Enforcement priorities. Dave led the innovation and modernization efforts for both of these organizations. These efforts resulted in a reduction of outputs but quadrupled the outcomes and impacts. These metrics were noticed at a very high level and the stories of innovation are now used as a template for other mission to use.

Dave had the opportunity to deploy for combat operations six times during his career. His final deployment led to him being the Senior Intelligence Officer (SIO) for Syria at the height of the counter ISIS efforts for a two-star Special Forces Command. Two of his favorite highlights during his time in the Army are serving as the battalion commander for the 142nd Military Intelligence Battalion (LINGUIST) and graduating from the National Intelligence University with a Masters of Science of Strategic Intelligence (MSSI).

When not nerding away in a book, Dave loves to snow ski the amazing powder in Utah, travel with the goal of SCUBA diving and surfing, or spend time with his five kids.
